I am in Sütçüler, which, although it is only a larger village with a supermarket, is still one of the largest centers on the St. Paul. Only today on the route (it's the sixth day of the march) I noticed the first walker. Just he was walking down the path a little below, so we passed each other without being able to talk.
And on the first photo you can see yesterday's meeting at the mosque in Yeşildere, where I was hosted not by just anyone, but by the local elite! The gentlemen were sitting at a table, and I asked for water, because it always has to be somewhere near the mosque. I was let through the gate and was shown the bathroom in the vestibule. Then the gentlemen invited me to the table. I got grapes and cheese, which I devoured with pleasure. The conversation was, of course, in the form of puns with the use of a translator, but I still learned a few details.
Firstly, the young boy in the middle, Orkan, is the imam of this mosque. It was a big surprise for me, because in my mind I had imagined that only an old man with a long beard could be an imam. Especially in a village lost somewhere in the mountains. And here you go... The man next to me was Omer - the local muhtar, i.e. the local mayor. The third man's name was Mustafa, but I didn't manage to determine his function, because the sunset was just around the corner and I had to get ready to look for a cosy spot for the night. I found it only half a mile outside the village. Shortly after setting up a camp, for the last time that day, I heard the call to prayer from the mosque where I had been sitting until recently.
The end of the day was approaching for both me and Orkan.
